Garden

Well the garden is growing. the bean runners are as tall as the trellis we built. I knew they were not going to be tall enough. We may have to add something. Not sure what yet, but the beans are also growing up the sunflowers in the corners too. We have peas, some went into the pasta salad for tomorrow. We have bunches of small green tomatos, and some small peppers. the zucchini will flower in the next week. It looks really good, although somewhat jungle-ish!

As a desert dweller, I must comment -- THAT is amazing!

We have done pole beans in the past. We made A-Frames that were about 5 feet heigh. We then tied string up the frames for the beans to run on. It worked well and they lasted for years. I loved those beans. :)

I love pole beans and usually do only those instead of bush. My back can't handle the bending over to pick. Since we have a large area, we use 5' cattle panels so they can go up and across.

Garden looks great--wish we could have gotten ours in earlier though. The thought of peas - ummm. Mine are only 2' high. The only thing that likes this warm/hot weather is the garden.

Green. Lush. Beautiful!

Next year I am going to stick an old bicycle tire rim on a extra tall t-post with strings going to each spoke for my pole beans. I saw it in a magazine and it turned out amazing!

Someone actually had some old bent Model T rims on craigslist for $25 that would have been perfect for this but they got snatched up before I could get them.
