Agility trial tomorrow

Magic and I are going to play agility tomorrow. AKC, so no real hopes of Q's. We decided to enter FAST as well. Should be a train wreck, as I have no clue how to run FAST, we haven't been practicing or to class in months and well I am not good at thinking on my feet. But, we should have fun, its one day spent in the sun, weather should be nice, and I get to play with my boy. Can't wait really.

Wednesday

OK, so I had all this stuff to do last night. I had the whole night pretty much scheduled out, from walking in the door, taking a dog to class, all the way up to climbing into bed. I was going to GET STUFF DONE! I got home from work and the first thing I was supposed to do on the schedule was change out of my work clothes. But I didn't follow the schedule, instead, I looked at the pups who wanted out really bad. I dropped my tote on the chair, and let the pups out of the crates, out into the porch and followed them out-shutting the door behind me. Did I mention that I hadn't flipped the lock. I locked us out! NUTS! So the pups and I spent 3 1/2 hours playing in the yard and on the porch, and nothing got done. Well, I had 2 tired pups, but I also had some pretty ticked off big dogs who had to wait until after 8 to get out themselves. Not to mention fed. Grace lets you know when the food is late. Oh well, instead of work, I read a book, played tug and snuggled pups. It really was a nice relaxed night.

Attitude

I have been thinking a bit about attitude today. Both the dogs attitude and the handlers attitude. This little girl is happy, willing and learns with a smile on her face. No collar, no leash just a willing effort to figure it out.
Why is it that people feel that they have to use others as a stepping stone? Brag about things that are true, but may not be the whole story?
I know we have all seen and heard them. Those that brag about winning their class, but fail to mention that they were the only entry? I'm not one for stretching the truth I guess.
When Grace and I were in the breed ring and I was very new, I honestly felt bad when we would win. Why? Because I know how dissapointing it is to lose. I often apologized to the others for winning. Is that necessary, no its probably not. But then I would never throw bait at another persons dog, or intentionally run up on my competitors. As was being done to me by those same competitors. I guess that is the difference in attitude. Please lord, let me be like my little girl.

More puppy training

Ok, I wouldn't really recommend training 3 puppies at once, but we sure did have fun! Merlin was visiting us last week while his Mom was in Mexico, so he got to play as well. I apologize for the picture quality, but I in the debate between spending money for a better digital camera, or more dog stuff or classes, the dogs always seem to win.

A new Champion! And a new Baby coming!

Siren went along to the dog show today and got to watch her daddy win another 2 points to finish his American Championship. Yeah Webster! This also puts Grandpa Romeo pretty close to his ROM.
Then on the way home we stopped to visit our son, and found out we have a new grandchild coming in February. WOOHOO!

Easy Weekend

We had nothing planned for the whole weekend, YEAH! Lots of Olympics on TV and puppy time. The girls got to go several places, but I truly think the favorites were the farmers market where everyone wanted to pet them, and of course Pumphouse Creamery where they make the best ice cream ever. The pups got a nummy smelling pup ice cream made with peanut butter and that little dish was licked clean.

The Girls

While at the park yesterday we took a few table pictures as well. I am trying to help the girls understand that tables are a good thing, but so far they don't believe me!

Siren is going to be curly just like her Mom, darn it. I love this dog and really had hoped she would work out for conformation. We will have to see what she does in the months to come.

She was always Davids favorite, which was why I kept her, but the more I work and play with her the more I adore her.

Ears

These ears are going to make me crazy! Peace's ears were up, both of them for over a week, now again one is sagging. Siren has never yet had them both up all the way. So both girls got tape again last night. Can you tell they are not too happy?

Earlier in the night we went for a walk to the park. We were much happier then!

Grace is starting to get some hair back-YEAH! Poor girl looks pretty naked still though.

Congrats to Laura and Cooper, Mac and Webster

Our friend Laura finished her pretty boy Cooper today. Laura is a novice handler like I am and they finished thier RA title last weekend and his Championship today! Way to go! Cooper is uncle to Siren and Peace, a full litter brother to Webster, the pups father. Webster picked up another Major last weekend and is moving up on his American Championship too. How exciting for the "family".

Big Congratulations from all of us! Dawn, Magic, Grace, Siren and Peace.

New Agility Title and Pup update

Saturday night after I got off work, I went down to Des Moines for a small NADAC agility trial Paws and Effect held. Nice trial site, at a beautiful park and a very nice group of people. We missed the first run of the day, so only ran 5 times, but managed to earn 3 Q's and also our O-TN-N title. The best run of the day though was our weavers run, Magic actually moved through the weaves nice and smoothly and working faster than at a walk! Of course he also got the zoomies on his first run of the day and managed to hit every tunnel on course, visit both the scribe and the judge and generally give everyone a laugh. I really couldn't get too upset- he had a long car ride there, a night in a hotel and he was just ready to run. And his Mom is WAY to slow for that kind of run!

The boys went to new homes last week, and all our visiting dogs left too, so we are down to just the 5. The girls seem to miss the boys, but they are managing to find enough trouble to get into on their own. Siren had her first puppy kindergarten class last night with her sister Tallie (Reba). They were both a little unsure about the night, but did very well. Peace stayed home, and from the looks of it, was not happy girl about it. But, she will get her turn to go tomorrow, and Siren will have to stay home alone.

I hope to have some new pictures to put up soon, and also to update the website with everyones big puppy pictures.

They may not be the best pictures. It was starting to rain, but since the boys leave this week, we decided to grab a couple of quick shots.

Funny Puppies

These puppies really make me laugh. They all are different in many ways, but they are all pretty darn funny. First up Siren. This is the way she goes to sleep-every day since she was about 4 weeks old. Last night I had her in the plastic kennel, no spaces big enough to shove her silly little face in, so it must have taken her a half hour to get comfortable.

Then there is Ziggy who needs his own pillow, and then falls off in mid sleep and spends the next couple of minutes barking at the darn pillow for waking him up! (Sorry its a bit blurry)

Next we have Peace. Her trick is to sit up on her butt, and look around. Unfortunately, if she sees me coming with the camera she comes running, so I haven't gotten that picture yet. But here she is playing with the big dogs. And last today, but not least in any respect, Bolt. He is just a character all the way around. I was trying to get a picture of him sliding down the ramp, but my camera is too slow I just get a blurry red blob. But, he will run up the ramp, turn around and slide all to the bottom. Its a very cute game. Last night he accidentally dropped the ball to roll down the ramp- now I am waiting to see if he incorporates that into the game.

I am having so much fun with them!
