Opinions Please

So Magic has this sadly warped nose. Can we still go out and do performance stuff or do I "retire" him? Thoughts?

Dawn, Why would you retire him because of his nose? Unless it is affecting his vision or equilibrium(which you won't know until you try) I say keep playing. Let Magic tell you if he doesn't want to. Does that mean it was benign?! I hope so!

As long as he is comfortable/painfree, and his breathing is not being jeopardized by tumors then no, I would not retire him. He loves working, has fun, and if anything, letting him keep going will keep him happy, and hopefully healthy.

Painfree, and happy are the two things I put as #1 for a dog working. If they're in pain, something needs to be done, and they need to have mind games, and less physical work, and if they're not happy, for whatever reason it's time to retire.

A crooked nose is no reason to retire him, unless it bothers him :)

I'm with Jules and Emily. If the nose doesn't affect his physical ability to do performance events, why retire him? Shoot, there is a Pem in MA with only one eye who runs agility. A bumpy nose is nothing!

What they said -- none of us (humans) would be competing if having no beauty flaws was a requirement. Keep going Magic!

What they said. If he can breathe and is comfortable, why not?

I agree - as long as there's no physical reason not to do performance go for it! Besides, he'll be so fast as he makes his way through a Rally course, nobody will even see his nose!
