So I am a goober..

according to she who says she is my friend. I get this call today telling me "You idiot- you rarely post about the bad stuff so no one knows what you are talking about" and she is right, I don't. Actually she called me Sh*t for Brains. (Thanks Dear, I needed that!) So briefly let me just say things have been pretty rough lately, mostly finacially related. Both Darryl and David were laid off, my job cancelled all overtime, and we are barely scraping by. To top it off we have had some serious medical stuff going on too and well, I am trying not to think about it, so I don't write about it.

So the dogs and I aren't going to the National, we can't afford shows and are training for fun at home. I am considering placing a couple of the dogs, so if anyone is interested in any of them, let me know.

Speaking of the dogs, so how do I stop the corgi pup who isnt supposed to be jumping yet from leaping over the baby gate???

Sorry for the bad time. Lots of choices being made by people who didn't think they would have to make them. Hang in there and ask for help from your friends.

Dawn,

If there is any comfort in the current situation, you are not alone. I keep trying to weigh getting the kids expensive dog food that they do so well on (@$40.00 a bag, but it is a big bag!) or going cheap. Like you my overtime got cut, my retired husband went back to work driving a school bus twice a day (and is now sick as a dog with something he caught from the kids) and I have no idea what I will do if I owe anything on our taxes. That said, I am one of the richest people in the world. I know if I have to I have friends who would give me their last penny, who will pow-wow with me to help me out of any hole I find myself on, and my family is enduring the same blows (my 87 year old mother has watched her net worth become almost a net negative). But the good news is that we are all experiencing pretty much the same thing and if nothing else, we are together in this.

This is the time to call in your markers. Lean on your friends, ask for help, ask for advice, ask for a pedicure, but ask! Unless you ask, no one can help. (Ignoring the problem really doesn't make it go away but don't let it suck the life out of you either).

I am planting our "victory garden", bartering for what I can, asking for discounts on almost everything. (If you don't ask then they don't have the opportunity to say "yes") You will be amazed at how much people will lean over to help. It won't pay the mortgage but it is a start.

Call your local Chamber and ask if they have a Chamber member in the financial industry (bank, investment firm, etc) who would be willing to sit down with you for an hour and help you figure out the best course you should chart right now. And tell the Chamber it will need to be a free hour - they will help you find someone, seriously.

And finally know, you are in our prayers and thoughts.

Love, Dozer's Mum

Hugs Dawn...so sorry to hear things have gotten so difficult. This economy sucks right now for a lot of people. I've heard from several close friends and family about layoffs the last few months, and it scares all of us. I thank God every day that Rus and I still have our jobs, but one never knows. Hang in there and we'll keep you in our prayers.

Chin up kiddo! I was in your position just this last fall and winter. New job, healthy kids and I know it will get better for you soon, praying for it.

The thing to remember is that God never gives you more then you can handle. I honestly and truly believe that and when it's bad, I pray that God help me to learn what it is he's trying to teach me.

Hugs to all, miss you at the shows and keeping you all in our prayers down in Iowa.

Hang in there Dawn. Things are bound to get better for you soon. Remember you have family and friends, so don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. We were in a similar situation which lasted 5 months, but we got through it with help. It makes you appreciate the things that matter most in life - family, friends, health, faith among other things.
